RiekeFest 2027
Code of Conduct
RiekeFest is a celebration of a scientific community. We are committed to making the meeting a welcoming, respectful, and harassment-free experience for everyone.
Scope
This code applies to all participants, including attendees, speakers, organizers, staff, sponsors, and guests, in all conference settings: talks, poster sessions, the reception, the banquet, social events, and conference-related online spaces and communication.
Expected Behavior
- Treat everyone with courtesy and respect, regardless of career stage, background, or identity.
- Engage critically with ideas, not with people.
- Give everyone room to participate, including in question sessions and discussions.
- Respect speakers' and attendees' wishes about photography, recording, and sharing of unpublished results.
- Look out for one another, and alert the organizers if someone appears to be in distress.
Unacceptable Behavior
Harassment, intimidation, and discrimination in any form are not tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Offensive or demeaning comments related to gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, age, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, or career stage.
- Unwelcome sexual attention, advances, or physical contact.
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following.
- Sustained disruption of talks or other events.
- Photographing or recording people against their wishes.
- Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern.
Reporting a Concern
If you experience or witness behavior that violates this code, please speak with any member of the Local Organizing Committee in person, or email riekefest2027@list.arizona.edu. Reports will be handled as confidentially as possible.
In an emergency, call 911.
Consequences
Participants asked to stop unacceptable behavior are expected to comply immediately. The organizers may take any action they consider appropriate, including a warning or removal from the conference without refund.
